IISCA Sec Group Analysis ( www.iisca.eu )
Terrorism modus operandi changed. In need of a different security approach.
Terrorism has changed. This single phrase covers a lot of areas that most people may accept as a state
but really do not understand what this means. In following lines, a brief description will be placed, in
order to provide a better picture of what this phrase really means. In this text, there will be an attempt
to use "simple language" and not specialized terms so this would be better understood by many.
Terrorism first of all should be set on true
basis. Terrorism does not equal Islam.
Terrorism as a term although not defined by
UN since many countries oppose the attempt to
do it for many reasons, in very simple terms it
generally means "act or threat of act of
violence against people, their properties,
states just to force them complying with
another person's, group's, state's
agenda.".
There are of course more complex descriptions
which cover a lot more details but the main
idea is that. Terrorism is no new concept. It is
something that exists almost since 12th century
A.D. Kings, states, groups, even simple people
at some point used a method (modus operandi)
to force their purpose (goals, agenda of all
kind) upon others. There are many people now
who are saying that world states should really
do something about eliminating terrorism and
provide safety to their people. In this demand
someone should bring up some points that
most ignore or simply are not aware of them.
First everyone should keep in mind that there is no way to accomplish 100% level of security.
There is no such thing. Security is a human concept and as humans are far from perfect, so are their
doings. Even when high edge technology is used, security measures are not easy to cover all
possibilities. Predicting a security event is like chasing a shadow. You might step on it from time to
times but you would never be able to stay always on it. Same stands for terrorism.
