Get Involved at Keele
There are lots of activities at Keele for you to get involved in
outside of your degree.
There are a range of volunteering
opportunities on offer if you would like
to gain some experience relevant to
your course or try something completely
different. Volunteering can help enhance
the student experience whilst giving you
a real sense of personal satisfaction. The
volunteering team works closely with both
the local community and the university
departments to help provide quality
volunteer opportunities.
Lots of our students are involved in the
Keele Student Ambassador Scheme.
The Scheme is aimed at Keele University
students who share a passion for
Higher Education and feel able to share
their knowledge and experiences with
prospective students, parents and
teachers. Student Ambassadors are given
the opportunity to represent the University
a range of events.
There are plenty of clubs and societies
you can join, including sports teams, the
Keele Acapella Society, the International
Society and Keele Mountaineering Club,
and if you can’t find a society for you,
you can start your very own! Geology
students can also attend talks given
by the North Staffordshire Group of the
Geologists Association and the Western
Institute of Mining and Minerals for free.
This provides the opportunity to network
with regional employers.
Within the School of Geography, Geology
and the Environment, we have the Keele
University Geo Society (KUGS) – a
society for anyone who enjoys anything
geo-related.
Over the year they run social events,
academic trips and host the popular
Annual Winter Ball. KUGS allows
students to create enjoyable and lasting
memories at Keele University, alongside
their academic studies.
JOSH BEACH,
KUGS VICE PRESIDENT 2018/2019
“KUGS is the perfect way to
meet fellow coursefriends,
from all years, across different
subjects and disciplines, to
experience, engage with and
try different activities. From
social events to academic trips
to our famous Annual Winter
Ball, KUGS allows students to
create enjoyable and lasting
memories at Keele University,
alongside their academic
studies.
I will never forget how many
life-long friends, connections
and memories that I’ve made,
over the last 4 years, that I’ve
been a part of KUGS. I am
very proud to be a part of the
KUGS family!”
