of a European power.
Select one such area.
Locate two maps of a country or geographic region that illustrates
changes brought about by an era of colonialism.
Include one map of the area that shows language, ethnic, or religious
distributions across the specific country or geographic region. In your
report, describe how these language, ethnic, or religious distributions
cross over into other geographic regions. The map should be referred
to in your report to highlight the geographical features and any
boundary changes that may have occurred. You may include
additional maps you think necessary.
Include one other map that identifies characteristics of local and
popular cultures that relate to the country or geographic region you
have chosen.
Compare and contrast the two maps. Explain how the colonial period
affected the cultural—language, ethnic, and religious—patterns of the
selected country or area.
Write your findings, descriptions, and comparisons of the maps in a
