Youth Variety Science and Technology Classes STEM Learn How to Code Ages 8-14 6 Classes In this exciting class children learn programming essentials with software developed by MIT and other recognized teaching solutions. Children will learn to program their own interactive stories, games and animations. Class encourages systematic reasoning, creativity and collaboration. This repeatable class groups students by their skill level, and introduces more advanced concepts and activities as they progress. The idea of block coding (or pushing around colorful blocks of code) to create computer programs started with Scratch. Slimey Valentine themed games will be played and snacks will be provided before taking your slime home! No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and build. Projects will include: various sound producing circuits, musical instruments, a simulated telephone, and even both their own radio...and radio station! The Easter Bunny mascot will be on hand as kids make slime that stretches, bubbles, and smells like spring! Customize your slime in the concoction center to smell like Marshmallow Peeps, tulips, cotton candy and more spring scents. Then color it to be the magical colors known for Easter. All kids leave with a golden egg surprise and their slime to take home. Did you know all of these games (and so many more!) can be coded in Python? Some of the most popular games and applications that we use are written in Python. Python is a flexible and forgiving language with straightforward syntax. It can be easily embedded and is powerful for many applications from office work, data analysis, small apps and 2D games!
