“CATCH THE FUTURE ”ACTIVITY PLAN
The simulation on the Phet platform opens on the interactive board and explains the
concepts of force, compound force, balanced and unbalanced force by applying
different values. A photo of any of the designed bridges during the load test is shown
on the screen. The composite forces, balanced and unbalanced forces on the photo are
shown by drawing.
After designing a virtual bridge and drawing a bridge prototype on paper, the student
groups design their bridges in accordance with the given problem and criteria and then
present/explain this design to the other students in a short way before the loading test.
They explain what they thought when designing and why they made such a design.
The most appropriate one of the bridge designs is selected after the loading test. (Of
course, all bridges were damaged or demolished at this stage.) After that, student
groups prepare a more comprehensive presentation using the photographs, experiences
and information obtained during the whole process. (Google Slides, Power Point,
Prezi, etc. different presentation tools can be used.)

In addition, each group prepares a report at the end of the application by referencing
the scientific research steps. This report tells the story of the project: what was your
problem, what kind of information did you collect and how did you access this
information, how did you design a solution for the problem, did the product/prototype
you created contribute to the solution of the problem, where were the errors and how
did you correct them, what is the data obtained after the application?
Student groups send their presentations and reports to the teacher via Beyazpano
(easyclass) after the event.

Groups think about their bridge designs. Discuss aspects that are positive and need to
be improved. Since the bridges that have been built have to be demolished, they
design a new bridge and aim to increase the strength/weight ratio.
Developing
Process
The Iron Triangle of engineering can be mentioned at this stage. According to this,
only two of these three qualities can be made at the same time. He asked students, "
how would you achieve this balance in a structural engineering project like Bridge
Construction?" the question is posed. (For example, when a more durable bridge is
