No playoff spots have ever been clinched in the fall months, but positioning is very crucial at this point and time. The Giants have lost two NFC East matchups (Dallas, Philadelphia) which puts them behind the eight ball early, and the New Orleans Saints are past panic button mode, they have to go undefeated for the rest of the season just to finish at 12-4. The faith that was had in the Buffalo Bills is slowly starting to turn in to sad expectations. Mario Williams has not showed up yet, maybe their defense is on the same cereal box as the Detroit Lions. Whatever happened to Ndamukong Suh anyway ?

fierce race to avoid that one game playoff that is awaiting the wild card teams in each league. New York had a ten game lead in July and people cannot wait to gloat over how the Yankees “blew it”, not so fast party people, the season starts all over when the playoffs begin.

Speaking of new beginnings the NBA season is about to tip off and there are big expectations all over the landscape. Can the Miami Heat defend their championship in a full 82 game season? Will Derrick Rose return to his form as the top point guard in the East? Can the Los Angeles Lakers make a run with Dwight Howard patrolling the paint? What kind of impact will the move to Brooklyn have on the NBA? And is Oklahoma City ready to leap that final hurdle and win a championship? These questions and many more will be answered in the next couple of months, but for right now it’s all about a full training camp and making sure everyone is healthy and ready for a very exciting season of basketball.
