GODDESS OF POWER( A FICTIONAL TALE)

Nathalie Martinez
During ancient times there lived a young deity Anasakiss. She was the most powerful of all deities, and this made everyone envious of her power. This goddess grew up with great intentions, and great expectations. But because with great power comes great responsibility, Anasakiss had one problem, she was unable to control it. This gift made her seem clumsy. Because of all this power, it was in her nature to be mischievous without ever seeking trouble. She intended to do the right thing, but the outcomes were rarely as fortunate as expected.
At the age of nine, when Anasakiss succeeded in catching a shooting star to bring to class for show and tell, she released her grip from the star, and it exploded causing the other deities to come to heal all her classmates that were injured. Not to mention having to erase their memory, from the devastation that had occurred that day.
When the goddess was fourteen she tried to save a boy who was drowning by drinking all the water in the river. Anasakiss was able to save him, and the town celebrated her. But as the hours passed the water was never replenished. The town didn’ t have fish to eat or drinking and bathing water for a month because the only source of water in that town was that river. The river god was furious because the townspeople hated him for not refilling the river. People lost faith in him because his powers could not undo what Anasakiss had done. As the townspeople nearly starved, they had to wait patiently for the water to make its way to their town naturally.
Upon the Anasakiss’ s nineteenth birthday, she made a wish that everyone in the world would love one another. She predicted that it would bring peace on Earth, but her wish wasn’ t specific enough. The world became chaotic. Those married wanted multiple spouses, those single had too many lovers and couldn’ t decide, and preteens began procreating. Soon, babies were being born left and right, and the world quickly became over populated. The deities had to work much harder than they were used to because of all the new life, and they weren’ t happy about it.
Though all the deities understood that she was much too powerful for her own good, they were all less tolerant of the mishaps that would occur while she was around. Soon it wasn’ t her strength, both physical and mental, that she was known for, but her misfortune that she brought with her. But there came a time where everyone began to look down upon her because her power made her above every other deity. They stopped noticing the great things she did that were done without a negative side affect. They only remembered the bad.
The other deities viewed each other as equals and had unconsciously placed the goddess on a pedestal. Despite the fact that they had different abilities, they were intimidated by Anasakiss’ s power. Together, they decided that they would punish the goddess by taking away her power. But all their power combined could not take away the Anasakiss’ s gift. Instead, they figured that they would make her forget that she was the most powerful.
And she did. She lived a normal life. She worked hard to achieve her dreams like any other person without powers would. The goddess, sometimes complemented for her nobility, never felt jealousy that while all those around her had powers she was quite normal. She did not mind having to work harder and longer to receive the same results as her deity friends. The goddess was happy enough with herself that she knew she could still attain whatever she desired. The fact that it took her more time and effort than those around her only made her satisfaction greater. Her life became routinely successful, until she fell in love, and then it became blissful.
The goddess and her love met under the cherry blossoms in full bloom, and like most love stories, the instant they saw each other
