Franchise Groups From Across the
State Recognized by The Tennessean
E
ach year The Tennessean hosts the Toast of Music City where
readers are encouraged to vote for people and businesses across
middle Tennessee who are going above and beyond to make their
communities great.
For the service providers segment of the competition, catego-
ries ranged from best auctioneer and audiologist to best funeral
home and fitness center. Voting closed on June 30, and when
results were released in September, Planet Fitness® was heralded as
the runner-up for the Best Fitness Studio/Gym.
With five clubs in the Nashville area, Taymax, LLC was
instrumental in Planet Fitness being voted second best by The
Tennessean.
“Nashville is a very fast-growing and diverse area, and that
fits well with Planet Fitness’ judgement-free philosophy. Our clubs
are a melting pot, but we create a real community at each location
because everyone has the common goal of getting fit and having
fun doing it,” said Mike McDonough, vice president of marketing
for Taymax. “Planet Fitness also stands apart from other gyms
because it’s fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. By having
special events like Pizza Mondays and Bagel Tuesdays, we show our
members the importance of balancing hard work with a little fun.”

Group/BBP Ventures also plays a part in making sure Planet
Fitness members have a great experience.
“Such positive recognition truly is priceless. Our clubs are
essentially a home away from home. When you ask someone what

feeling comes to mind when they think about their homes, most
people are going to say comfort, which is exactly what we strive for
at our clubs,” said BKNY Group/BBP Ventures Regional Manager
Eric Marburger. “Success with a business is simple when you have
a strong team that supports and delivers the business motto. Our
team members truly believe in the Planet Fitness motto, which
is to create a Judgement Free Zone®. Along with creating that
comfortable, non-intimidating atmosphere, we also provide that +1
percent, which turns our members into raving fans.”
The recognition also couldn’t have been obtained without
stellar customer service from Victor and Lynne Brick’s Planet
Fitness Growth Partners’ eight clubs in Tennessee.
“Three years ago, people in Nashville and Middle Tennessee
did not know the Planet Fitness name or what we offered. We
now not only have huge brand awareness in the market, but we
are also considered to be at the top of a competitive market with
some long-standing brands,” said Chris Cavolo, COO for Planet
Fitness Growth Partners. “This is all due to relentless marketing
coupled with the consistent delivery of a quality product and great
customer service. It’s really quite an achievement to be in one
of the top three fastest-growing markets in the country and is a
positive testament to franchisor and franchisees alike.”
Pat Augustine’s Meridian Enterprises and Rick Kueber’s
Kueber PF Franchises also have clubs in the geographical area that
was voted Best Fitness Studio/Gym.
Franchise groups from across the state have come together,
proving One Team. One Planet. can truly make a difference. G
