Planet Fitness Growth Partners Teams Up With CASA for Inaugural Superhero 5K

On Nov. 4, Planet Fitness Growth Partners( PFGP) teamed up with Court Appointed Special Advocates( CASA) to host the inaugural Superhero 5K and Family Fun Festival. Over 160 people came out to raise awareness and support neglected and abused children in the surrounding counties. Attendees enjoyed live music, food, games and were able to meet with various vendors. In total, the event raised over $ 12,000, which allowed CASA to provide a year’ s worth of services for 24 children in need.

“ This is the first event we have partnered with CASA on,” said Chris Cavolo, COO of PFGP.“ However, I volunteered through the organization several years ago, so I was very excited at the opportunity to work with them again.”
Planet Fitness Growth Partners provided an in-race beverage / aid station and an activities booth for the kids in attendance where they could design their own superhero mask. The club even had a team, which consisted of both staff and club members, entered in the 5K.
“ Superheroes are often known as individuals with extraordinary skills, ready to step in and save the day,” said Chris Janetzko, outreach and volunteer manager with CASA.“ To CASA, superheroes are ordinary citizens going out of their way to help children in need of a voice. The Superhero 5K and Family Fun Festival in memory of Melisha Gibson is an opportunity to raise awareness about the pressing need in our community for everyday heroes to swoop in and stand up for vulnerable children who are neglected and abused.” G
