Why Join the PF Independent Franchisee Association? PFIFA was established in 2014 to provide an organized voice for franchisees that will create more balance in the Planet Fitness franchise relationship in a way to ensure franchisees and our franchisor meet and obtain common goals and interests. What is PFIFA: An independent association, PFIFA is free to safeguard and enhance franchisee business interests and maintain and grow their equity. NEGOTIATIONS AND ADVOCACY ON YOUR BEHALF PFIFA advocates for and negotiates on behalf of all franchisees. For example, the Legal Committee, in conjunction with PFIFA legal counsel, negotiated with the corporation to obtain franchisee-friendly changes to the Franchise Agreement (FA) and Area Development Agreement (ADA). These changes, including improved successor rights, modified default and cure terms, and more flexible remodel and re-equip terms significantly enhance value for both PF franchisees and the Planet Fitness brand. A COMMUNITY OF FELLOW FRANCHISEES The strength and effectiveness of the Association is directly related to franchisee participation. PFIFA provides an instant community of PF franchisees with whom you can share best practices, bounce ideas off of or simply pose a question. Whether it’s participating in the members-only website discussion portal at www.pffranchisee.org; learning what’s happening with your fellow franchisees by reading Geared Up; or networking at the PFIFA annual meeting or convention, the association provides multiple ways for you to connect with and learn from your peers. GROWING YOUR EQUITY PFIFA is working on several initiatives to enhance franchisee equity including a purchasing co-op, online purchasing catalog and P&L Benchmarking tool. For several months, the Association has been working with a proven leader in supply chain management services for franchise systems to discuss development of a PFIFA Co-op. By combining the purchasing power of the entire system huge savings can be achieved through economies of scale. The PFIFA will keep you posted as this important initiative progresses. Additional benefits of membership include, but are not limited to:  Regular email communications on association matters, weekly industry updates and a quarterly member magazine, Geared Up.  A Franchisee Equity Fund that serves as a ‘rainy day’ fund for professional services that will allow franchisees to make more informed and confident decisions regarding their businesses.  Education on issues important to your business through a variety of channels to suit your learning preferences (e.g., print, online, webinars, etc.).  Invitation to the PFIFA annual meeting.  One hour of complimentary legal counsel per ownership group on franchise relationship issues every six months through PFIFA’s chief legal counsel, Dady & Gardner. PFIFA represents all members equally, whether you are the largest franchisee or the smallest. We want the collective franchisee community to contribute to and help form the vision, needs and desires for all franchisees. We will solicit input in multiple ways, such as surveys, requests for information/data and face-to-face discussions on a periodic basis.
