Art:
Within the playrooms we have endeavoured to create an environment that allows the child to experiment, and grow. To aid this we do not display children ' s art or craft, though the children are free to do this if they wish. While we don’ t display their art works, we do provide positive encouragement for what they have achieved- taking photos, taking copies for portfolios and by discussing what they have achieved.
Children not only enjoy creating but also enjoy showing their finished product and are very proud of it. In most instances children prefer to take what they have created home, so that they can share with you what they have created during the day.
We do have on regular display, posters on a variety of topics- reflecting different cultures, environments, activities and many other topics. Reproductions of works of art from the masters are also displayed, exposing children to classic examples of art.
By providing a visually uncluttered environment we are also allowing children the freedom to explore art and creative experiences for themselves- not copying someone else’ s idea or method.
Children’ s completed art works are usually placed into children’ s lockers, or can be found on the drying racks.

Music:
Music within the curriculum allows children to experience many things- pleasure, joy and creative expression. It allows us to release and show emotions, to explore movement, and it has therapeutic values and enhances our self worth.
Within our services, music is used in a variety of ways, to enhance the environment, create moods, for therapeutic uses, and it offers opportunities to move, sing, dance, play and explore. Children are exposed to music from all over the world, from a variety of cultures and styles. They experience and develop an awareness of musical contrasts, respond to different rhythms, have the opportunity to sing a variety of songs and also to have heaps of fun.
Music is in every part of our day. We will sing all your favourite nursery rhymes, but we will also sing new songs, old songs and also the latest rap songs. We will change the style of traditional songs- so don’ t be surprised if Humpty Dumpty sounds like a rap song.
Strengthening the Human Spirit:
Feeling good about ourselves is very important. If we feel valued, we achieve and we mostly behave in an appropriate and responsible way. For a child, feeling good about themselves is a learning

process, it takes time and lots of input from those around to allow the child to develop a positive selfimage, but while it may be hard work, the benefits are many.
Our team believes that by working with you, the parent, we can build in the child a positive and responsible young citizen. A person who feels confident, stable, who enjoys life, friendships and who enjoys learning. To create this person we use lots of praise and positive feed back about what they achieve, we provide a warm and loving environment, we allow the child freedom to explore and be a master of what they do, we offer choice and most of all we offer support.
As part of our program on selfesteem, we encourage the children to learn about physical characteristics, about how the body works, about the differences and similarities between people. We will look at nutrition, health care, safety, where people live, communities, neighbourhoods, families, employment, & we will look at our likes and dislikes. In fact there isn’ t much we don’ t cover in this area and the good thing about it is, we do it everyday.
Children with Additional Needs:
Both services are able to access additional support for children with identified additional needs we have access to additional staff and extra support. If your child has an identified developmental delay then
