TAKING OVER THE HELM OF A POWERHOUSE :
JP Morgan ’ s new global head of securities services discusses plans for the future of the business
JP Morgan ’ s new global head of securities services , Tim Fitzgerald , has been with the custodian throughout a transformation journey which has reshaped and redefined the asset servicing business over the past eight years . As he steps up to the helm of the business , he tells Global Custodian he is ready to continue this momentum into a new era .

I
think we ’ ve turned the business into a real industry powerhouse ,” says Tim Fitzgerald , JP Morgan ’ s new global head of securities services , speaking to Global Custodian shortly after his appointment was announced . “ It ’ s a great story so far and my plan is to continue that momentum , continue the investment in the business and the growth , and really capitalise on recent investments .” Fitzgerald has been with JP Morgan throughout the transformation of the securities services business , which has occurred over the past eight years under the leadership of Teresa Heitsenrether . It ’ s been a strategy with technology and data at its core , prioritising the implementation of a strong leadership team and aiming to excel across custody and fund services throughout the world . The results of the new look JP Morgan securities services business have been undeniably fruitful : mandates with the largest asset managers and owners , the ascension of its alternatives and ETF servicing business and – perhaps most importantly – a data and technology architecture built for the future . By any measure , the strategy has worked . The end of Heitsenrether ’ s tenure in the role is by no means the end of the journey – she now takes on the prominent role of leading a new data and analytics unit within the bank – as Fitzgerald becomes the successor with an eye on continuing the momentum which has defined the best part of a decade for the asset servicing business . “ It ’ s a big honour to be asked to step up ,” says Fitzgerald . “ Teresa is going to lead one of the firm ’ s biggest priorities in terms of data and analytics , and I think she ’ s the obvious choice to do that .
