SBCS has been committed to supporting the wellbeing and prosperity of San Diego children , youth and families since 1971 . The nonprofit agency ’ s services and supports - based in the strengths of local communities - assist those throughout the region to reach their fullest potential .
Through comprehensive and coordinated initiatives focused in the areas of child well-being ; youth development and education ; family wellness ; and community engagement , SBCS responds to the needs of the community with a strengths-based approach and touches the lives of more than 50,000 each year . As SBCS ’ team of more than 400 dedicated staff embark upon the agency ’ s 50th anniversary , it celebrates the superheroes who make this work possible .
