The University of San Diego Celebrates a Rebirth and Fresh Take on the Student Experience
USD Learning Commons
This fall , the University of San Diego will welcome students back for in-person classes . The school is excited about the rebirth of so much that is new , different and exciting on campus and cannot wait to unveil it all once they arrive . In the wake of the pandemic - while students studied virtually , and many employees worked from remote locations - Alcalá Park was growing and changing .
It was a true Renaissance .
The University opened the Learning Commons , a two-story , 36,000 square-foot building that is home to 13 flexible smart classrooms , a dynamic Town Square and an outdoor plaza . They also renovated Copley Library to feature new study instruction , seminar and reading rooms , event and outdoor spaces and individual seating for 1,000 users as well as enhancing Camino Hall and Founders Hall , two of the school ’ s original buildings . Most recently , The University broke ground on a new , 120,000 square-foot complex , known as the Knauss Center for Business Education .
During COVID-19 , USD amplified voices that sometimes strain to be heard , told stories that need to be told and represented those who have been underrepresented . They made a Torero
