Compassion
Page Tab for families and individuals living out of their vehicles , who relied on the expanded 24 / 7 hours of our Safe Parking Program at the height of the crisis .
More than 110 JFS team members and countless volunteers prepare and deliver meals to isolated seniors , work at the weekday drive-thru food distribution , manage our diaper bank , and answer calls every day . There are also 200 staff working remotely to deliver all of the services we were providing before the pandemic . Despite these efforts , thousands of vulnerable community members will continue to face challenges the longer this crisis continues .
Here at JFS , we are actively planning what we need to do today to support our community tomorrow . We will remain agile — adapting and pivoting to address the arising challenges felt by our neighbors impacted by COVID-19 , while maintaining our existing JFS services for the many San Diegans who relied on us before the pandemic .
We will look to facilitate more affordable housing and find innovative ways to support those struggling to survive in one of the nation ’ s least affordable metro areas .
We will continue to assist immigrants and asylum-seekers throughout San Diego / Tijuana border region , because this work is essential to ensuring San Diego is a more humane , prosperous , and beautifully diverse place to live .
Today , tomorrow , and however long this pandemic lasts , JFS will continue to deliver critical care and services to our neighbors in need . From response to recovery , we ’ ll remain on the frontline serving our San Diego community .
