For most , the New Year is a time of resolutions , fresh starts and hope for the future . Everyone could use a fresh start and with your help , it can also be a time of new beginnings for neighbors in need .
At Father Joe ’ s Villages , the approach is to provide the resources and wraparound programs that people experiencing homelessness need to be self-sufficient on their journey . These programs and services aim to end their homelessness for good - offering safe shelter , nutritious food , physical and behavioral healthcare , employment services and much more . These comprehensive services are even more critical at a time when the number of people experiencing homelessness is rising . For every 10 people who exit , 13 neighbors enter homelessness . The need is great , and to address it , they need your help .
A shelter is not a home . This is why comprehensive services are offered , customized to each person ’ s specific needs , focused on overcoming the obstacles to secure permanent housing . Securing affordable housing is a challenge that each client faces . Father Joe ’ s housing navigators work with local landlords to secure housing . The Turning the Key Initiative remains committed to providing 2,000 affordable units in San Diego . With Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villa fully leased and providing permanent homes for more than 500 people , their attention is focused on several housing communities currently in pre-development .
