February is the month of love – the perfect time to emphasize the importance of love and kindness . Perhaps the most beautiful act of love is nourishment . Feeding San Diego ( FSD ) is an organization committed to providing nutritious meals to San Diegans facing hunger . You can get involved with your hands and heart to make a difference for these neighbors in need . Whether you give time , funds , or voice , you can make a difference in someone ’ s life who needs help putting food on the table .
This month , spread love throughout San Diego County by supporting those in need , all while inspiring hope in a time of hardship . With inflation at a nearly 40-year high and the pandemic still presenting a public health crisis , San Diegans can get behind Feeding San Diego ’ s mission !
Give time : FSD has 22 food sorting shifts at its Sorrento Valley headquarters every week ! Anyone age six or older can sign up to sort and pack produce and other food items for the food distributions that happen every day of the week . You can also
76 GBSAN . COM | FEBRUARY 2022 volunteer at our Together Tour food distributions or fill other skills-based positions . Companies are encouraged to become a Team for Good and inspire a culture of philanthropy by doing group volunteer shifts .
Give funds : Your tax-deductible donations go a long way in the fight to end hunger . Every $ 1 becomes two meals for San Diegans facing hunger . As a member of the Feeding America network of hunger relief organizations , Feeding San Diego has the purchasing power to maximize every generous donation .
Give voice : Feeding San Diego and KindHumans have joined forces to spread kindness . On Instagram , take the # KindhumansChallenge ! Post a photo of you or someone you know showing off an act of kindness to others or the planet , tag @ feedingsandiego and @ kindhumans _ movement and use the hashtag # KindHumansChallenge . For every post , KindHumans marketplace will donate 20 meals !
