Father Joe ’ s Villages restores dignity for those experiencing homelessness by combining evidencebased housing models with the services and support people need to get off the streets for good . Our shelters enable our neighbors to move off the streets , so they can focus less on surviving and more on thriving .
Over the past 70 years of service , Father Joe ’ s Villages has continued to adapt to the needs of the times , rapidly becoming the multi-site village of comprehensive services that it is today . With over 7,600 San Diegans experiencing homelessness on any given night , our innovative solutions are more necessary than ever .
While critically important in the journey of ending someone ’ s homelessness , shelters are not a home .
Seeing that San Diego lacked the housing necessary to address the homelessness crisis , Father Joe ’ s Villages launched the Turning the Key Initiative , a pledge to create 2,000 units of affordable housing . affordable housing building to be born out of Turning the Key so far and it will transform the lives of thousands over its lifetime .
More than just a building , Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villa is a community of hope .
It declares boldly that no man , woman , veteran , senior or family should have to sleep on the street ; that with access to the right resources , people can and do change their lives .
Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villa will not only end the homelessness of more than 500 individuals , it will provide a supportive , hope-filled community where they can thrive .
