Since its inception , the Cal Coast Cares Foundation will have awarded nearly $ 800,000 in student scholarships and educator grants by the end of 2022 . “ We are proud to continue our commitment to supporting students and educators throughout the region and the 12 Days of Giving campaign is a fun and festive way for us to wrap up the year with a full heart of giving . to pursue a degree in Computer Science . “ As a first-generation , low-income student , receiving this scholarship means I can afford to study , network and develop my programming skills during my first year at college . I can now better utilize my time to work towards my dream ,” said Ly . the various stages of the pandemic and now with the rising costs of project supplies and tuition – this funding is more important than ever ,” Cal Coast Cares Foundation Manager Nickie Behdin shared with GB Magazine .

The Foundation has also impacted countless classrooms in the region through educator grants for classroom projects in the STREAM ( Science , Technology , Reading , Arts , and Math ) subject areas . Projects funded include a wide range of programs such as coding , robotics , chemistry kits , and visual arts .
Nay Flinn , an educator with Connect Academy , a recipient of a recent educator grant , credited the Foundation with helping her prepare students for the years ahead . “ I am extremely grateful to receive the Cal Coast Cares Foundation Educator Grant which will provide Connect Academy students the opportunity to participate in hands-on , multi-age , collaborative coding experiences . These types of experiences promote social , emotional engagement , creative , and critical thinking skills to prepare students for the ever-changing jobs of the future ,” said Flinn .
