Originally founded in ��2�
to provide social welfare programs for the poor , elderly , sick , and those who otherwise might be forgotten , Episcopal Community Services ( ECS ) enhanced its scope in ��5� to provide programs to address physical , emotional and spiritual needs of all San Diegans .
Today , ECS delivers health and human services in the areas of substance use disorder , mental health , poverty , homelessness , and early childhood education to more than � , 000 clients in San Diego . The programs are designed to inspire children , empower adults and transform communities by providing essential services to support people to reach their potential . Every client is served regardless of ethnic background , culture , gender , age , sexual orientation or religious creed .
