Empowering Women Transitioning Out Of Domestic Violence Shelters
Soroptimist International is a worldwide philanthropic organization of women whose mission of �Investing in Dreams� is accomplished through local club programs leading to social and economic empowerment for women and girls . In ���� , the Soroptimist Clubs of �orth San Diego and Poway teamed up to create a Domestic Violence Transitional Housing Program . This program for survivors of domestic violence moves families from dependency and abuse to a safe , self-sustaining life by providing housing , mentorship and fi nancial help . Since the program began in ���� , �� moms and ��� children have successfully graduated to live independent lives . The need now in our community is greater than ever .
Through the Live �our Dream Award program in 2020 the two clubs collectively distributed �2� , 000 to �� women who provide the primary fi nancial support for their families . These awards give women the resources they need to improve their

The Dream It , Be It program reaches girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success . They mentor girls on setting and achieving their goals , moving forward after setbacks or failures , and discovering career opportunities . �The program has given the girls the opportunity to open their minds and view their future diff erently . I experienced the change in them from day one to the end of the program , � shared America Briseno , ASES Meadowbrook Middle School .
