Pats on the
back
EDITOR’S NOTE: Each Friday, The Gazette
salutes those who make Emporia and the surrounding area a better place to live and work. The following folks deserve a pat on the back ...
✦✦The Lyon County Emergency Communication
Center for recently upgrading to a new system
for receiving 911 calls. The new system allows
dispatchers to determine the exact location of
most 911 calls.
✦✦Southern Coffey County Honor Flight organizers
for again conducting an Honor Flight for local
veterans. The honor flight will be April 14 and
15. Twenty-four area veterans, including eight
Emporians, 24 student guardians, plus support
staff will enjoy a trip to Washington D.C. to see
their memorials.
✦✦Southern Lyon County Honor Flight organizers
for successfully fundraising to hold an inaugural
Honor Flight for local veterans. The honor flight
will be April 25 and 26 and over 20 area veterans
will enjoy a trip to Washington D.C. to see their
memorial.
✦✦St. Francis Community Services for hosting a
community resource fair for families. Families
could learn about resources in the community to
help support their children.
✦✦Emporia High’s Chase Henton, who signed with
Ottawa University to play football. *
