Kansans will find food , fun and plenty of family entertainment at the Great Overland Station 9:30 a . m . - 4:30 p . m . Saturday .
The entertainment line-up includes : Professor Farquar & Polecat Annie , Amazing Christopher the Magician , Maple 12 String , Kyler Carpenter , and Spirit Dancer Dennis Rogers .
Activities that everyone can enjoy include : hoop dancing , pony rides , a petting zoo , a trackless train ride , remote control cars and airplanes , midway carnival games , face painting , photo booth , inflatables , archery , hand car and mini-hand car rides , tours through the Welda Depot and Superintendent ’ s Car . New this year , water tag battle on the festival grounds with BOOM ! Battle Sports . This will be a fun family activity that will cool people off while having a blast .
Inside the Great Overland Station , area Model Railroading clubs will put some of their tracks and trains on display for everyone to enjoy
In addition to this , there will be a variety of Food Trucks , vendors and exhibitors to peruse through on the memorial .

STRONG CITY — The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve will hold programs Saturday entitled “ Birds of Prey ” and “ Birding 101 Wagon Rides ” beginning at 10:30 a . m . See schedule below .
The “ Birds of Prey ” is presented by naturalist Vanessa Avara from the Milford Nature Center . Live birds are part of the program and this offers a unique opportunity to observe these winged predators up close . There will be two presentations , both located in the historic limestone barn . The first program begins at 10:30 a . m . and the second at 12:30 p . m . Each lasts approximately 45 minutes , followed by more fun after the presentation . A touch table with “ birds on a stick ” will be available , letting visitors discover different bird species , comparing their commonalities and differences .
A new interpretive program this year is the “ Birding 101 Wagon Rides ,” which will be conducted at 11:30 a . m . and 1:30 p . m ., with advance , free reservations required . An Emporia man was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation Thursday after he was struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle down Commercial Street .

The Emporia Police Department and Emporia Fire and Rescue responded to Fifth Avenue and Commercial Street at about 3:15 p . m . Thursday for an injury accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle , according to a release provided by EPD .
After the initial investigation , officers on scene found 32-year-old Saturlino Palanco , Jr . of Emporia was riding a bicycle southbound on the sidewalk of Commercial Street when a silver-colored SUV was attempting to make a northbound turn onto Commercial Street from Fifth Avenue . The SUV , driven by 39-year-old Mayra Torres- Delgado , struck Palanco on his bicycle at the intersection .
“ Fortunately the SUV was not going very fast ,” Emporia Police Sergeant Lisa Sage said . “ Palanco complained of shoulder pain at the scene but was conscious , breathing and alert at the scene .”
He was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health . Palanco was not wearing a helmet .
Torres-Delgado was not injured and was the only occupant of the SUV .
Palanco was later cited for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk and Torres-Delgado was cited for no proof of liability insurance .

Road closing
