Cope has found the
position of sheriff to be
rewarding.
“Working with the people
is the most rewarding part
of the job,” said Cope. “In
our profession we have the
opportunity to work with

all segments of our society
and not always under the
best circumstances. When
we have the opportunity to
change lives for the better or
to help someone through a
bad situation, the thank you
is the best reward of it all.”
Cope has held the position of sheriff in Lyon
county since 2010 when he
took over for Sheriff Gary
Eichorn, who retired.

50 Inch Polar Vortex Crossover, new in 2015, features a new and revolutionary Polar
Vortex ice scraper that conforms to glass, keeping the full scraper blade working, and
reducing time to clear ice and frost. In addition to the new blade, this item features
a curved Power Pole™ that makes scraping easier while across the windshield
by giving the user the proper angle of attack on ice. Additional features include
a pivoting brush head for sweeping or pushing snow off, extension out to 50” for
extended reach, and a premium foam grip for comfort.

Luke Miller, associate
product manager of winter
tools added the way Hopkins comes up with new
features is by proactively
thinking about the problems people experience
in the winter and working
backwards to find a product
to meet those needs.
One of the most basic, but
possibly unknown features
of some ice scrapers produced by SubZero, Hopkins
winter tools brand, is the ice
ripper feature. Knuckle-like
ridges on the back of the
scraper can help consumers
break through heavy ice, but
sometimes it is difficult to
communicate the use of the
subtle feature to consumers.
When asked how they try to
communicate proper use of
the tools to consumers Williams said, “It’s tough. There
are not many consumers
out there actually looking
to know the answer to that
question. I think they often
just make due and most of
the time the product doesn’t
get a lot of retail communication. We’ve designed elements that try to make it
more obvious how to use the
products.”
Some other new features include an extendable
handle. Williams noted the
extendable handle is very

well as for consumers who
live in the city. He mentioned that in the city, people
who park on the street can’t
safely stand in the street to
clear off their vehicle. The
extendable snow broom enables people to safely clear
their windshield from the
sidewalk.
In 1972 the Hopkins
brothers decided to make
an ice scraper out of advanced plastic, a material
they had been working with
to improve the functionality
of their signature product,
the Hoppy headlight aimer.
They signed Wal-Mart as
their very first company to
sell winter tools and still
sell their products at WalMart today. Entering into
agreement with Wal-Mart
changed the way Hopkins
did business. Previously,
they were a business to business company, selling their
headlight aimer to body
shops, but selling ice scrapTHE WHITE CORPORATION
