I think it is disrespectful because they are here to give us an education and not everybody gets that.” The bullying also extends outside of school. All three report that bullying frequently occurs via apps and social media. The cyber bullying makes the students feel as if they aren’t even safe away from school. “I don’t feel like there is ever a break from being bullied anymore,”  Diana  said. “It goes on all the time.” The bullying has taken a toll on all three of the youngsters. They say they have changed as a result of the bullying and wish that it would stop. “I used to be a really open person and now I hide a lot of things from people,”  Diana said. “I’m not myself in front of others.” “It seems like in some ways it has made me stronger but in other ways I feel weaker,” Xena said. “I would rather things be peaceful at school and not so much drama.” “I don’t like school at all V V now,”  Xavier  said. “I don’t want to go. I don’t want to be there. I used to love school. If it was up to me the kids that bully wouldn’t be there anymore.” In spite of the difficulties the trio face at school each day they remained concerned about their peers. They are hopeful that by sharing a bit of their experience they will help someone else.  “I don’t want people to feel alone,” Diana said. “I feel alone a lot.”  “This isn’t something I really like to talk about,” Xavier said. “But I know there are other kids that won’t say anything. I worry about them. There are kids a lot smaller than me that are really getting picked on. We need the school and our parents to help make it stop.”  “I would like other kids to know that bullying is hard,” Xena said. “But no one should hurt themselves or cut themselves or kill themselves because of it. By telling about what is happening to me I hope no other kids have to go through this.”  V THE GAZETTE, EMPORIA, KANSAS DISCUSSION From PAGE 1 ties to know if fire occurrences are greater than in other areas?
