Free garden talk at FUMC Thursday, local farmer Gail Fuller will speak at First United Methodist Church, 823 Merchant St., about sustainability, ecology and community. The 7 p.m. talk is free and open to the public. Fuller holds an annual “Field School” in conjunction with the Kansas Farmers Union that draws speakers and guests from around the world to share the latest knowledge on regenerative farming and ranching. He will share some of what he’s learned and what he’s doing differently on his land, with an emphasis on notill and cover crops, and explain how the same strategies can be applied in smaller gardens. Camp Alexander board meets The Camp Alexander Board of Directors invites the public to the annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the ESU HPER building, room 203. Hetlinger annual meeting The annual meeting of Hetlinger Developmental Services is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be held at 707 S. Commercial St.    New members are always welcome, as well as those renewing their memberships. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the organization and the individuals it serves. The agenda for the annual meeting includes presentation of the annual report and election of board members. The following individuals are nominated: Leonard Dieker, Chase Miller and Linda Sobieski. Board members with continuing terms include Shirley Langley, Linda Markham, Karen Pendlay, Christopher Rech, Judy Schade and Tammy Vopat.  An exhibition of original client artwork will be on display the evening of the meeting. EHS debate update According to Coach Scott Bonnett. at the 5A state debate championship Saturday, the team of Brandon Boyce, Alondra Garcia, Xander Baldwin, Caylie Ratzlaff, Payton Harmon and Emma Persinger took 6th place among four-speaker teams. The two-speaker team of Lucas Lord and Dom Weidner took 6th among the 58 teams entered. Clifford Ray Sull, 58, of Emporia died Saturday, January 16, 2016, at his home. Cliff was born on August 23, 1957 in Chandler, Arizona the son of William Lee Evert Sull and Nancy Lee Gayer. He married Kerry McCoy on July 2, 2002 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Katrina Danielle Clynch of Carlsbad, California; brothers, William Sull of Wichita, Craig Davis and wife Maria of Wichita, Jeff Davis and wife Lena of Wichita; sisters, Leta Burris of Lyn
