Feb. 22.  Sharon Elaine Prochaska of Emporia died Monday, February 22, 2016 in rural Emporia. She was 67. The Lyon County Treasurer’s Office reports that Monday is the final day for those who own commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, farm trucks or trailers or whose name ends in “A” to renew their automobile tags. Generational poverty speaker Wednesday The Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society for Educators at Emporia State University is hosting Generational Poverty Speaker Rebecca Lewis on March 2. This free talk is at 7 p.m. in Webb Hall, second floor of the Memorial Union. KDP invites the community to hear her moving presentation on what it means to live in poverty in Kansas. The blood drive is part of the school’s Pennies for Patients campaign going on this month to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
