CLINTON SAYS TRUMP HAS ‘ LOWERED THE BAR ’ REGARDING PROTESTS

Hillary Clinton says that Donald Trump has “ lowered the bar ” with regard to keeping the peace at his rallies and creating an environment that encourages dialogue .
The likely Democratic nominee for president told CNN Friday that the presumptive Republican nominee has “ set a very bad example ” for not condemning the violence that is increasingly associated with his rallies , whether by his own supporters or his opponents .
We must “ condemn all violence in the political arena ,” Clinton said . “ I don ’ t think any of this helps anybody .”

Road closing
The Lyon County Highway Department reports there will be a temporary road closing Monday . The bridge on Road L ( Allen road ) between Roads 280 and 290 will close for approximately one week . The contractor will be applying the overlay ( final coat ) to this bridge .
Dirty Kanza Finish Line party
Saturday , Commercial Street from Sixth Avenue north to 10th Avenue for the Dirty Kanza 200 gravel endurance race . The Finish Line party officially starts at 4 p . m ., however those who wish to see area children have racing fun may arrive at 3 p . m . to watch the 4th Annual Kids Fun Run and Bike Ride . Keishaune , age 12 , Ke ’ rel , age 11 and Keimarla , age 9 , are siblings who need a forever family that has enough love to go around !
Oldest brother Keishaune is full of energy and loves participating in football , basketball and running track ! Keishaune does best when he is he kept busy doing productive activities . Keishaune does well in school and is on the honor roll . He relates well with peers and adults but can become frustrated when he doesn ’ t get his way . Middle brother Ke ’ rel is a very polite child and respectful young man . Ke ’ rel loves playing football and basketball ! He makes friends easily and does well socially . He does well in school and has no educational needs . He is currently on the honor roll . Ke ’ rel occasionally has trouble staying focused but is easily redirected . Younger sister Keimarla really enjoys dancing and singing . She is always happy and loves everyone ! Her other hobbies are shopping and playing games . She likes her reading class in school the most . She does well in school .
Keishaune , Ke ’ rel and Keimarla would all do well in a home that is structured , nurturing and committed to keeping these siblings together ! Only families living in Kansas will be considered for these children .

Loretta Alene Rice

Loretta Alene Rice of Emporia died Thursday , June 2 , 2016 at the Holiday Resort Care Center . She was 84 .
Howard Jacob Haag
Howard Jacob Haag , 87 , of Olpe passed away Wednesday , June 1 , 2016 , at Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka .
Howard was born on December 10 , 1928 in Emporia , the son of Albert and Helen Brown Haag . He married Marilyn Irene Spade on March 23 , 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia . She died February 14 , 2013 .
Other survivors include five sons , Carl F . Haag and wife Maggie , Manhattan , Kansas , Rodney J . Haag and wife Janet , Emporia , Kansas , Christopher A . Haag and wife Linda , Hartford , Kansas , Matthew O . Haag and wife Eleonora , Wichita , Kansas and Joseph A . Haag , Olpe , Kansas ; four daughters , Teresa Schuler and husband Kenny , Emporia , Kansas , Mary Lopez and husband Richard , Olpe , Kansas , Clare Spellman and husband Stephen , Emporia , Kansas , Sarah Fager and husband Michael , Miller , Kansas ; brothers , Roger J . Haag , and Mark J . Haag ; sisters , Thouret L . Gaughan , Ida Jo Jones , Charlotte Swisher , Catherine Brady , Virginia Penney , Constance Rogers , and Alberta Smith ; seventeen grandchildren ; and eight great-grandchildren .
He is preceded in death by his wife ; parents ; brothers , Arthur J . Haag , and David John Haag ; sisters , Rose Marie Pfaff , Shirley A . McAnarney , and Mary Helen Haag .
After Howard graduated from St . Joseph Catholic High School in Olpe , he served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War . Howard worked for Modine as a tool and die machinist where he retired . He was a member of St . Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe and Knights of Columbus .
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P . M ., Monday , June 6 , 2016 at St . Joseph Catholic Church , Olpe . Burial with military honors will follow at St . Joseph Catholic Cemetery , Olpe . The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P . M ., Sunday evening , June 5 , 2016 at the church . Memorial contributions to the St . ESU NURSES PINNED

The Emporia State University Department of Nursing Senior Recognition Ceremony was held May 13 in Albert Taylor Hall in Plumb Hall . A total of 32 nursing graduates were pinned this year . Students from this area are : Krystal Beyer of Americus , Jessica Miller of Madison and , from Emporia , Bridget Camien , Melissa Cerretti , Anel Converse , Kristi Crosby , Joseph Jager , Ashley Keighley , Kimberly Krueger , Whitney Landreth , Anna McDermed , Jacob McRell , Meghan Murray and Diana Prieto .
This ceremony was held to honor the graduating student nurses and to announce the senior student recipients of graduate awards . A reception followed in the rotunda of Plumb Hall .
Aubrey Arnold was the recipient of the Francis Stout Award . This award is selected by the nursing faculty and is awarded to the student who best meets the criteria of being a good bedside nurse , a patient advocate and a concerned , practical and caring individual .
Kayla Fraley was the recipient of the Cora Miller Award . This award is selected by both nursing faculty and the senior nursing students . It is awarded to the student who best meets the criteria of administering nursing care by creative use of nursing knowledge and skills , who shows a genuine interest in nursing by support and participation in professional , school , and community activities , who maintains an above average

Eckdall made the presentation .
Amy Douglass , MSN , assistant professor and class sponsor introduced each student . Linda Adams- Wendling , chair of the nursing program moderated , sharing deep appreciation to all supporters of the Emporia State University Department of Nursing . President Allison Garrett , Provost David Cordle , and Dean Brent Thomas all provided warm welcomes and congratulations for all students .
Garrett and Adams- Wendling presented an award of appreciation to Mike and Shirley Langley , representing the trustees of the Loretto A . Langley Trust . Since 2009 , the Loretto A . Langley Trust has provided significant funding to the Emporia State University Department of Nursing for five high fidelity patient simulators , NOELLE and baby HAL ( a birthing simulator ), Al / Alice ( an adult simulator ), RESE ( a five year old simulator ), and ARI ( a one year old simulator ), along with several pieces of equipment , carts , and technology equipment .
