L ' artiste français JR , connu pour ses photographies et ses œuvres monumentales , a installé ses nouvelles créations à Rio , représentant des athlètes en noir et blanc , pour rendre hommage aux Jeux Olympiques 2016 et à la culture urbaine de la ville brésilienne . Focus sur cette œuvre hors du commun !
Déjà en 2008 , pour mettre en avant celles qui occupent un rôle essentiel dans les sociétés , JR avait recouvert l ' extérieur de la favela Morro da Providência de Rio , d ' immenses photos de visages et de regards de femmes . Pour cette nouvelle réalisation , qui entre dans le cadre du projet « Inside Out Project », l ’ artiste a utilisé un matériau nouveau : des échafaudages et a décidé de représenter deux athlètes à des endroits spectaculaires de la ville . Il s ’ agit de photographier des sportifs dont l ’ identité s ’ efface derrière le « geste parfait » d ’ une discipline olympique reconnaissable au premier coup d ’ œil : le plongeon , le saut en hauteur , ou le triathlon avec la natation ... JR s ’ est intéressé à des athlètes peu connus mais qui subliment la gestuelle sportive et par là-même l ’ universalité du mouvement olympique . La première installation , située à proximité du quartier de Barra , représente un plongeur sautant dans l ' océan . Également attachée à des poutres métalliques , l ' œuvre illustre un athlète avec les bras tendus en vol et prêt à plonger . La deuxième est placée sur le toit d ’ un immense immeuble . JR a expliqué reproduire le magnifique saut de Mohamed Younes Idriss , un soudanais de 27 ans qui vit et s ' entraîne à Cologne en Allemagne . " Il ne s ' est pas qualifié pour les JO de Rio 2016 mais il est là-bas autrement ", a écrit l ' artiste . Ainsi JR a fait vibrer Rio et le monde entier grâce à ces géants saisis dans l ’ action qui rappelle que le sport est tout d ’ abord la beauté du geste . I

JR at the Rio Olympic Games When art celebrates sport !
French artist JR , known for his photographs and monumental artworks , has installed in Rio his new creations representing ahtletes in black and white , in order to pay tribute to the 2016 Olympic Games and to the urban culture of the Brazilian city . Focus on this exceptional work !
Already in 2008 , in order to highlight those who play an essential role in society , JR pasted huge photos of the faces and eyes of local women all over the outside of the favela Morro da Providência de Rio , suddenly giving a female gaze to both the hill and the favela . For this new realization that is part of the “ Inside Out Project “, the artist chose a new material : scaffolding and decided to show two athletes in spectacular places of the city . It is about taking photos of sportsmen whose identity gets erased behind the “ perfect gesture “ of an olympic discipline : diving , high jumping , or triathlon with swimming ... JR got interested in little-known athletes who sublimate the sportive gesture and hence the universality of the olympic movement . The first installation , located near the Barra neighbourhood , shows a diver plunging into the ocean . Also attached to steel beams , the work illustrates an athlete with his arms stretched and about to dive . The second one is placed on the rooftop of a huge building . JR explained that he wanted to reproduce the beautiful jump of Mohamed Younes Idriss , a 27-year-old Sudanese man who lives and trains in Cologne in Germany . “ He did not qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games but in a way he is there “, wrote the artist .
