Le Burj Khalifa, the world’s
highest tower
Dubaï plays the card of the excess on the world
tourist scene by giving us the world’s highest tower.
With its 828 metres, it dominates the whole city. It is
the symbol of Dubaï’s architecture of excess and
extravagance. Inaugurated in 2010, it is the heart of
the new neighbourhood named Downtown Burj
Khalifa. Its elevator, the fastest in the world, goes to
the top where the panoramic view over the town is

breathtaking. The tower will remain one of the
greatest architectural achievements of the 21th
century.
Palm Islands, the 3 dream
islands
Housing majestic villas, luxury hotels and a tourist
area, the Palm Islands are artificial islands located just
off the coast of Dubaï. The three islands are shaped like
a palm tree and called Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali
and Palm Deira. Built with sand, they are surrounded by
a dyke designed to protect them from the swell. The
smallest of those islands, Palm Jumeirah, located just
in front of the Jumeirah district where the famous Burj
Al Arab Hotel stands, got its first residents in 2006.
