Cette édition est la première d’une nouvelle trilogie autour du thème « moderne ». Ralph Rugoff, directeur
de la Hayward Gallery à Londres, est le commissaire invité de cette édition 2015 par le directeur artistique
de la Biennale, Thierry Raspail. Il propose comme titre de cette biennale « la vie moderne » car d’après lui «
le moderne est à la fois ce qui est nouveau et ce qui relève d’un autre temps ». 63 % des œuvres de l’édition
2015 sont inédites et produites spécialement pour la biennale. Pour cette édition, la Biennale se découpe en
3 expositions prenant place dans différents lieux : « La vie moderne qui rassemblera 60 artistes de 28 pays
dans 3 lieux : la Sucrière, le musée d’art contemporain de Lyon et le musée des Confluences, l’exposition « Ce
fabuleux monde moderne », montrera les œuvres de la collection du MacLyon en écho à « La vie moderne », à
l’espace d’exposition le Plateau, à l’Hotel de Région et enfin « Rendez-vous 15 » présentera des jeunes artistes
à l’institut d’art contemporain de Villeurbanne (IAC). I

This edition is the first of a new trilogy around the theme “modern“. Ralph
Rugoff, head of the Hayward Gallery in London, is the curator of this edition,
invited by the artistic director of the Biennial, Thierry Raspail. He proposes “La
vie moderne“ as the title of this Biennial because according to him “the modern
is both what’s new and what comes from an other time“. 63% of the works of
the 2015 edition are new and created especially for the Biennial. For this edition,
the Biennial is organized in three exhibitions that take place in various locations :
“La vie moderne which will gather 60 artists from 28 countries in three locations
: the Sucrière, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon and the Musée des
Confluences, the exhibition “This fabulous modern world“, will present the works
of the MacLyon collection echoing “La vie moderne“, at the exhibition space
Le Plateau, at the Hotel de Région and finally “Rendez-vous 15“ will introduce
young artists at the Villeurbanne Institute of Contemporary Art (IAC). I
