250 Tunisian artists at the “Imago Mundi”
Five continents, more than 40 participating countries, 6930 artists presenting 10x12cm
artworks, the exhibition “Imago Mundi“, as part of Luciano Benetton’s collection,
brings in Venice a positive image of the world. It’s in the turmoil of this exhibition
that 250 Tunisian artists have shown their collection named “ Turbulences“.
t
he exhibition in collaboration with Venice Biennale organized at the Giorgio Cini Foundation,
on San Giorgio Maggiore island in Venice, takes place from 1 September to 1 November
2015. It offers an art without borders that goes beyond differences and pushes forward
civilization. “Imago Mundi“ is the idea that neither art nor the world have borders. Artists
from multiple countries contribute in their own way to draw this map of the artistic world.
In the context of this exhibition, the 250 Tunisian artists have presented a collection entitled
“Turbulences“. The artists have succeeded, through their creations, in combining their
cultural and ancestral heritage with modernity by adopting a broad variety of techniques (acrylic, photography,
engraving, sculpture, mosaic, embroidery), and a comparable profusion of materials (copper, wood, glass,
terracotta). Leila Souissi is the curator of this ambitious project where established and emerging artists allow
us to discover various forms of expression. I
