Peuple de l ’ œil , 160 ans d ’ histoire de la communauté sourde
L ’ Écomusée du Fier Monde accueille une exposition originale entièrement dédiée à la communauté des Sourd ( e ) s . Intitulée Peuple de l ’ œil afin de mettre l ' accent sur l ' importance du regard dans le rapport au monde chez cette population , cette exposition rend hommage à la culture et à l ’ identité de cette minorité linguistique souvent oubliée . Les visiteurs peuvent ainsi suivre un parcours retraçant 160 d ’ histoire de la communauté sourde dans le monde et qui témoigne des repères importants , de ses débuts pendant l ’ Antiquité aux premières écoles spécialisées . Afin de s ’ imprégner de cette forme linguistique atypique , le musée propose une immersion immédiate à travers des vidéos en langues des signes québécoise ( LSQ ) et américaine ( ASL ), expliquées aux entendants grâce à un petit livret d ’ accompagnement traduit en français et en anglais , ainsi que des œuvres réalisées par des artistes sourds sur des médiums diversifiés . People of the Eye , 160 years in the history of the Deaf community .

The Écomusée du Fier Monde hosts an original exhibition entirely dedicated to the deaf people community . Entitled People of the Eye to highlight the importance of sight in this community ’ s relation to the world , the exhibition honours this often forgotten linguistic minority ’ s culture and identity . Visiting this exhibition is an opportunity to follow a path recalling 160 years in the history of the Deaf community around the world and stating the important milestones , from the beginning of this form of communication , back to Antiquity to the first specialized schools . In order to absorb this atypical linguistic form , the museum offers an instant immersion through various artistic media as wall as videos in Quebec Sign Language ( LSQ ) and American Sign Language ( ASL ) explained to the hearing people through a simple support booklet translated into French and English .
