Auto photo à la Fondation Cartier pour l’art
contemporain

Symbole de puissance, de désir et de virilité mais aussi objet de fantasmes, l’automobile fascine depuis sa
création. La Fondation Cartier lui consacre ainsi une exposition inédite à travers l’objectif des photographes.
Cette étroite relation artistique est mise en valeur par une sélection de près de 400 œuvres de 80 photo-
graphes historiques tels que Lee Friedlander, Jacques-Henri Lartigue et Yasuhiro Ishimoto. L’exposition
Auto photo souligne ainsi l’influence qu’exerce l’automobile sur notre environnement et notre quotidien

Symbol of power, desire and virility but also of fantasies, the automobile has since its creation been a source of fascination to
which The Cartier Foundation dedicates an unprecedented photography exhibition. The close artistic relationship between
photography and the automobile is highlighted by a selection of nearly 400 works made by 80 historical photographers such
as Lee Friedlander, Jacques-Henri Lartigue and Yasuhiro Ishimoto. The photography-related event features the influence
that the automobile exerts on our environment and our everyday life, but also on photographers’ aesthetic practices and
