I actu culture I news culture I ‫الأخبـار ثقـافة‬ C onstruit de 1910 à 1920 mais réaménagé et religieusement conservé depuis 1995, l’atelier de peinture situé dans le Palais du Baron d’Erlanger a bénéficié d’importants travaux de restauration et de réaménagement muséographique. Cette action portée par le Centre des Musiques Arabes et Méditerranéennes en collaboration avec la Fondation Kamel Lazaar et l’Institut National du Patrimoine a permis d’apporter un second souffle vital au mobilier ainsi qu’aux tableaux composés par Rodolphe d’Erlanger. Au terme d’un chantier de 18 mois - qui s’est soldé par la réouverture au public le 15 février dernier - l’atelier a totalement retrouvé sa splendeur d’antan. Un travail minutieux qui a permis de préserver dans les meilleures conditions une soixantaine d’œuvres ainsi que le matériel qu’employait le baron, tels que son chevalet, sa palette, ses pinceaux et ses croquis. La majorité des tableaux exposés dans cet espace ont été conçus à partir de 1910 et reflètent avec une grande sensibilité l’atmosphère des ruelles et des paysages de Sidi Bou Saïd. A cela s’ajoutent quelques fascinants portraits de gens que le peintre aimait et respectait. Cette initiative s’inscrit comme la première collaboration historique entre le CMAM, institution étatique et un organisme privé et ouvre la voie à de nouvelles actions de mécénat dans le domaine culturel. B uilt from 1910 to 1920 but redesigned and religiously preserved since 1995, the painting studio located in the Palais du Baron d’Erlanger has benefited from major restoration and museographical redevelopment works. This action carried by the Arab and Mediterranean Music Centre in collaboration with the Kamel Lazaar Foundation and the National Heritage Institute gave a vital second wind to the furniture and paintings by Rodolphe d’Erlanger. After an 18-month renovation that ended on 15 February, the studio finally got back its former glory. A detailed work that allowed the preservation in optimum conditions of about sixty artworks as well as the Baron’s material : his easel, his pallet, his paintbrushes and his sketches. The majority of paintings exhibited in this space were designed from 1910 onwards and reflect with great sensitivity the atmosphere of Sidi Bou Saïd’s streets and landscapes. There are also a few fascinating portraits of people who the painter loved and respected. This initiative is the first historical collaboration between the CMAM, state institution and a private body and it opens the way to new sponsorship’s actions in the cultural field. I 71
