I rencontre interview I encounters interview I ‫لقــاءات مقابلـة‬ LG : What are the words that best define you ? MM : I can't answer, everyone sees me with different eyes I guess. LG : How was the making of the film Hédi ? MM : We started with two weeks of rehearsal with the actress Rym Ben Messaoud at the offices of Nomadis Images productions. This first work session allowed us to understand better the expectations of the director and our characters. It was the most difficult moment. There was a lot of doubt and stress. After this first step, we went to the film set in Mahdia. Rehearsals were intense. The moment when we shot the film was very relax and pleasant. We understood perfectly our characters and could improve the scenes. This adventure remains a unique experience for me. LG : You have won the Silver Bear for best actor, did you expect it ? MM : Absolutely not ! As far as I am concerned, it is an honour just to be nominated. It was a magical moment. MM : Even though I have travelled a lot and lived in different Tunisian cities thanks to my father's profession, I remain very attached to Bizerte LG : Did this award change your life ? and especially Menzel Abderrahmane. A peaceful and quiet place where MM : This incredible award has changed nothing in my life. To me, it inhabitants form one family. represents my peers' acknowledgement. I am only at the beginning of my career. This prize is a motivation to go further. I hope that it will help me LG : What is your best travel memory ? reach new professional goals. MM : My best travel memory is a Flamenco show in Barcelone. A surpriseparty organised by a friend, a magic moment. What a pleasure to see this LG : Is your character, Hédi, different from your own personality ? artistic effervescence ! MM : My character is very different from me. I am way more expressive whereas Hédi is calm and introvert. To be honest, he is my opposite. Of LG : A wish for the future of Tunisia ? course, I took inspiration from my life experiences to shape the character even MM : My deepest wish for Tunisia is more stability, justice, equality and if we are very different. I can see myself in his struggle, it also took me some culture. MM : The film offers a new perspective on love in the way it depicts it. The movie is fluid and subtle. The characters live their love stories with passion and finally quite simply. We are also told the story of this man who, experiencing love, learned to love his own life, to laugh and to affirm his personality. LG : What is your professional dream ? MM : My dream would be to play in a new film. I think it is important to work intensely on creation, to dedicate yourself and give to other people. LG : What is your favorite destination in Tunisia ? MM : I love to visit the Kerkennah islands and Djerba. Those places inspire me. LG : A few words to describe your hometown ?
