6 Age The species Garra rufa can live up to 7 years (Coad, 2013). Sexual Dimorphism Large males become heavily tuberculate on the front and sides of the snout and in a band from the eye to the nostril and across to the other nostril and eye. A deep, tubercle-free groove is apparent between the upper band of tubercles through the nostrils and the tubercles on the snout above the mouth.
