BEAUTY & GLAM EASY, BREEZY SUMMER FUN MAKEUP By Kevyn Idoux One of the best things about summer is that it’s the time of year when you can enjoy some of the best outdoor entertainment the city has to offer. But even though the thermometer may be rising, it doesn’t mean you need to skip your makeup routine completely when you venture outside for some fun in the sun! First thing’s first, PROTECTION! Apply sunscreen to your face and neck a few minutes after applying your moisturizer. Allow the moisturizer to penetrate and settle into your skin to keep from diluting the efficiency of your SPF . Instead of using your usual cream or liquid foundation, try switching to a tinted moisturizer or one of the new BB or CC creams on the market. These products will deliver sheer color and lighter coverage, but will still blur any imperfections. If you need a little more help on some areas, opt for a denser concealer to give maximum coverage with the smallest amount of product. As always, to keep shine at bay, sweep on a light dusting of translucent powder. Powder blushes and eyeshadows do not mix well with perspiration. Go for a cream or gel blush in a bright pink or coral shade blended well on the apples of the cheeks. Cream eyeshadows blended on the eyelid will add a pop of color while lasting longer than powders. Eyeliner and mascara are two beauty staples that should be switched to their waterproof counterparts to eliminate fear of smudging or running during your summer fun. Forget about lipsticks and glosses in outdoor heat. Instead, try a tinted balm or a lip stain for smudge proof, kissable lips.
