CILLAH: What is the motivation behind your music?
ANGIE: I’d love to say it’s my love for music, but that’s really secondary.
I don’t just love performing and singing for folks because I like being
center stage. I’m actually not at ease with being the center of attention.
I love music because of what it does for people. I remember the feelings
that were stirred up when I listened to lyrics that moved me or a voice
that was so unique that it felt
like it was interpreting my
own feelings. Music carries me
through dark times and inspires me to take risks. I want
to pass that on to others. I
look at it as a gift that I’ve
been blessed with that I am
supposed to share. It’s my way
of serving people.
CILLAH: How has your experience serving in the military
inspired you to perform and
make music?
ANGIE: My guitar players, Paul and Phoenix, and I duct-taped a Geraldo
Rivera mustache and 3-D chest hair on Scotty McCreery’s gigantic
photo of himself on his eighteen-wheeler, while I was opening for him
on his Weekend Road Trip tour. I doubt Scotty could ever grow the epic
