PUBLISHER'S NOTE
Commit to
a Fresh Start
A
s we say goodbye to the glorious fruits of summer and prepare for the season
ahead, we are reminded that we only have a few months left before year’s end to
clean up all of life’s happenings.
How many items on your last list of New Years’ resolutions remain
unaccomplished? How many times have you started to work on them and then
stopped? I have gone to the gym a handful of times, which is nothing compared to the three or four
times a week I committed to at the beginning of the year. I also made a commitment to connect
more with people in my personal life and in business. I wanted to have a year filled with more
meaningful relationships. Time is getting more precious as life gets busier. I wanted to extend
myself to people and things that matter to me.
The one task I did accomplish was to eliminate various elements and friendships that weighed
me down. I cut back on interactions with those whom I knew all along were not really rooting
for me. I knew it would mean dealing with unpleasant feelings of loss. While taking care of dirty
business can be hard, it is necessary - not only for personal success and fulfillment - but for business
growth too.
Think about all the times you spend focusing on people and things that have outlived their
purpose in your life. Not every relationship will go to the next chapter with you. Not every home
you move into will be your forever home. Not every job or client will last a lifetime. I guess what I
am trying to say is that there is still time to clean up your life in 2017. Do you really want to take the
baggage you carried over from 2016 into 2018? I am making a commitment to myself to get my life
in order. There is still time before that ball drops to ring in the New Year. I plan to make the next
four months count. Will you do the same?
Sincerely,
