FAVORITE WEDDING DAY MOMENTS Sydney : There was this moment before the ceremony when Andy pulled me aside and opened his jacket . Inside , he had pinned a note , written in blue crayon that said , “ Love you .” It was such a small gesture , but it meant so much . I couldn ’ t stop thinking how lucky I was that this man was about to be my husband . Andy : I was at the end of the walk to the Philpott house , waiting for the “ first look .” Nervous , I was chatting with our cinematographer , Matt , about cracking Will Ferrell jokes with my groomsmen . After the “ look ,” as Sydney was wiping away her tears - unaware of my previous conversation with Matt – she exclaimed , “ I ’ m stuck in a glass case of emotion !” That was a classic Ferrell quote from “ Anchorman .” It was a perfect moment to calm my nerves for the rest of the day .
WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT EACH OTHER DURING THE WEDDING PREP PROCESS Sydney : It was amazing how supportive and interested he was about wedding details , and he was accepting when I felt overwhelmed . He works a crazy , busy job , but always made time to be a part of the planning meetings and asking about how things were going . He was my rock . Andy : Sydney is the most organized person I ’ ve ever known . Not once was anything rushed , out of place or stressful . She made things easy , moving meeting times around with vendors to accommodate my schedule , even if I had no business picking out flower arrangements or linens . Her work before the wedding made the day better than I could have ever dreamed .
WHAT HAS KEPT US TOGETHER Sydney : We have been through a lot of hard times together ( including Andy ’ s battle with leukemia ) and knowing that you are doing it all with your best friend makes things a lot easier . Andy makes me a better person . He challenges me and supports me , and always tells me I am beautiful . I couldn ’ t have asked for a better partner in life . Andy : It ’ s been a whirlwind for the past eight years . We ’ ve experienced more in that time than many couples experience over the course of a lifetime . It ’ s how we ’ ve responded to those experiences that brought us to where we are today . Sydney is an unbelievable partner - never asking for anything , always a giver and always encouraging me to strive for more . She makes me the best version of myself .
