ore than 300 guests experienced an enchanting South
African safari-themed affair at the recent Youth &
Family Center FUNraiser, which featured global
cuisine, traditional African dance, and fund-a-need and
live auctions amid vibrant, colorful surroundings. Five
community leaders received the Equalizer Award for creating and supporting
equal access for others, and for being “change agents” in making a difference
throughout St. Louis. Honorees were: Malik Ahmed, CEO/founder of Better
Family Life, Inc.; Frank Cusumano, sports director of KSDK-TV; Mary
Elizabeth Grimes, president of Marian Middle School; Melba Moore, St. Louis
Department of Health acting director; and Ron Unterreiner, vice president of
business development of Rhodey Construction.
