Princess Diana with sons,
Prince Harry and Prince William
It’s a Royal
Summer
A
s the British royal family enters a new era, with more
children, weddings and new responsibilities, we marvel
at how far Princess Diana’s sons have come since that
fateful day in August 1997, when they lost their mother,
and the world lost its favorite princess. The princes
have done a great job of honoring their mother’s legacy through their
philanthropic efforts and their roles as responsible young men who
work to make the world better.
Prince William, 36, is the eldest son of Charles, Prince of Wales,
and Diana, Princess of Wales, and is second in the line of succession
to the British throne, after his father. Named Duke of Cambridge just
hours before his wedding, Prince William married Catherine Elizabeth
Middleton at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
Prince William chose a military career and underwent officer
training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, located southwest of
London. The prince served in the Royal Air Force until 2013.
Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have
three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and they recently
introduced the newborn Prince Louis to the world. Born at 11:01 a.m. on
April 23, in London, he weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces. The family’s official
residence is Kensington Palace.
The couple devotes their time to supporting the queen by working
with a number of charities and organizations in the United Kingdom
and around the world.
