J
azz master and pop innovator George Benson headlined
this year’s Sheldon Gala, which raised more than $200,000
to support educational programs and a wide range of
music and visual arts for the St. Louis community. The
gathering featured pre-concert cocktails, hors d’oeuvres
and dinner, as well as a dessert reception following the concert. In
addition, a $1 million gift from the Steward Family Foundation to The
Sheldon’s capital campaign was announced, along with the naming of
Steward Family Plaza in honor of the donation. Sue and Irl Engelhardt,
and Mary and Dave Steward, Jr. served as the event’s co-chairs. Thelma
and David Steward served as honorary chairs.
