Jimmy Choo “Project Runway” Says Yes to Plus Size
Iconic luxury brand Jimmy Choo is now owned by Michaels Kors.
Sandra Choo will continue to lead the creative and design teams at the
company, which means that we should continue to see the innovative
design and exceptional craftsmanship that we expect from the brand.
Choo has been with the company since its inception, and has been
the sole creative director since 2013. Michael Kors Holdings Limited
announced the acquisition in July. For the first time in its history, “Project Runway” included plus-size
models in its lineup. Season 16 broke out of the conventional modeling
mold and celebrated body diversity. Part of the designers’ challenge
was to show off their skills and ability to make stunning creations
for any size. Last year, show favorite Tim Gunn criticized the fashion
industry for not making an effort to include women of all sizes, and
challenged brands and designers to do more.
Supermodels Reunite It was “Reigning Men” at Saint Louis Art Museum
The original ‘90s models thrilled the fashion world with a reunion on
the Versace runway. Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Donatella Versace,
Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen walked the
runway at the Versace Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2018 fashion
show during Milan Fashion Week Spring 2018, held in September.
The reunion traveled down memory lane to that golden age of the
supermodel. The Saint Louis Art Museum took us on a journey to define periods
in history when men’s fashion reigned. The “Reigning Men” exhibit
was the first major exhibit at the museum that focused on fashion. It
highlighted 300 years of men’s fashion with exceptional ensembles
drawn primarily from the renowned collection of the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art.
