T
he Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis hosted its
biggest-ever Salute to Women in Leadership gala with
1,300 guests in attendance. President and CEO Michael
McMillan presided over the event, held at the Marriott
St. Louis Grand Hotel, which celebrates national,
regional and local women in diverse fields, who lead by example in their
communities. Honorees this year included Lifetime Achievement Award
recipients Martha Reeves, Dorothy Wilson, Mary Wright, Beverly Smith,
Shirley Caesar and Cathy Hughes. An impromptu performance by Reeves
got guests dancing, and singer and songwriter Eddie Levert kept the party
going with his hits from multiple decades.
