Du 14 juin au 11 septembre 2017 L’ exposition, conçue pour la Galerie de photographies du Centre Pompidou, se veut une revue expresse de l’ artiste depuis 1984, ainsi qu’ un précipité d’ histoire de la photographie. Elle rassemble des œuvres photographiques, mais aussi des appareils conçus ou trafiqués par Pippin, ainsi que du matériel engagé dans la réalisation de ses différents travaux. Au milieu des années 1980, l’ artiste britannique, Steven Pippin, se fait connaître par ses « proto-photographies » prises à l’ aide d’ objets courants transformés en chambres noires. De l’ armoire au réfrigérateur, de la baignoire à la machine à laver, des toilettes publiques aux salles d’ exposition, tout y passera, y compris le Photomaton, qui, tout-en-un, représente pour Steven Pippin un modèle parfait de « machine célibataire »: appareil photo, appareil à développer et à tirer des images prêtes à consommer. في أواسط الثمانينات ، اشتهر الفنان البريطاني " ستيفان بيبين " ب " البروتو فوتوغرافي ،" وهي الصور التي يلتقطها بواسطة أشياء ، عادية يحولها إلى غرف تحميض. فمن الخزانة إلى الثلاجة ، ومن المغطس إلى آلة الغسل ، ومن المراحيض العمومية إلى قاعات العرض
