MUKKARRAM ALI I am a london based artist having completed MA Fine Art. My work revolves around abstraction. Graphic and geometric images have always caught my eye and I love to merge this sense of the controlled with gestural brush strokes, keeping intact both a sense of order and freedom. Colour is very important to my exploration of composition and gesture. I particularly like sharp contrasting colours. Here, David Batchelor’s writings on Chromophobia – the fear of bright colours – is proving a useful framework to think about in my paintings. I want to work with and against that fear. Further to this enquiry lies my interest in process and how process forms an integral part of any work produced. Gestures, use of gravity, screen printing, stretching of canvas etc. all become significant elements to play with in order to explore process and painting. http://mukkarram15.wix.com/mukkarramali [email protected]
