For the first several years he lived here , Mark Edward Patton kept his past life as a serial killer secret from the customers who came into Lalo Morales , his Mexican crafts shop on Basilio Badillo . Patton , who owns the business with his partner Hector Morales ( Lalo is the Spanish nickname for Edward ), figured the notoriety would attract too much attention . He also didn ' t talk about the unconsummated gay love affair with an even more monstrous killer that lay behind his gruesome murder spree .
But you can ' t keep secrets for long in Puerto Vallarta , and eventually Patton had to own up : Yes , he was Jesse Walsh , the hunky teenager who was possessed – and caressed – by razor-gloved Freddy Krueger in “ Nightmare on Elm Street 2 .” Performing as Mark Patton , he also played alongside Cher , Karen Black and Kathy Bates in the Robert Altman film “ Come Back to the Five and Dime , Jimmy Dean , Jimmy Dean ,” but it was his role in the homoerotic Nightmare 2 that has made him a mainstay at horror conventions throughout the world and earned him a large and devoted fan base .
The movie came out in 1985 , and except for a documentary made in 2010 to promote the remake of the original “ Nightmare on Elm Street ,” Patton hasn ' t performed professionally since a guest role on the “ Hotel ” TV series in 1986 . But time has only increased his celebrity . “ Fame is forever ,” he comments during a conversation in his shop
