Year In Review
The Yearly Review: 1929
The year of 1929 has had many important, large events occur during it. Leon Trotsky was a powerful leader of the Communist Party, in fact, most people thought that he would be the current leader of the USSR instead of Joseph Stalin. In February he was completely banished from the Soviet Union, and now he has gone around to other countries looking for a place to settle.
Another major event that has occurred this year is that Penicillin, the antibiotic, is now used to fight infection. Last year it was discovered by Alexander Fleming to have the ability to fight bacteria and it is now a helpful antibiotic. This is a major discovery in the field of science and it will help the world fight disease.
There were several sad events that occurred this year as well. On February 14, seven men were shot and killed in the St. Valentine’s Day massacre in Chicago. It was a gruesome murder in broad daylight and the criminals managed to get away. The police weren’t able to figure out who the killers were and the criminals disappeared. This was a terrible a tragic event, but the worst is that the murderers are still out committing heinous crimes.
The worst event of the entire year was the stock market crash on October 29, also known as Black Tuesday. Many companies fell and lost stock value and the average investing citizen lost most of their money on the stock market that day. People ended up much poorer and worse off than how they started making the crash a disastrous event.
